Yes, Hoka’s most iconic and representative road model is back by popular demand with a new version, the seventh, which offers significant updates that do not, however, undermine the extraordinary sensations aroused by the previous model.
The biggest difference
The most obvious difference is, paradoxically, also the least significant: the raised insert above the heel, although it changes the look in an important way, simply replaces the eyelet that until the sixth edition facilitated insertion of the foot into the shoe. A solution, however, with a dual function: the ease of insertion is confirmed and, at the same time, the achilles tendon is better protected.
Same cushioning, reduced weight
Another notable change is the weight reduction (247 grams for the men’s model, 201 grams for the women’s), due to the new design of the upper, an open-structured mesh sandwich, which is decidedly lighter and more breathable, while retaining the usual strength at the points of greatest wear.
What hasn’t changed?
What hasn’t changed is the sensation of comfort as soon as it is put on, the softness of the support and the smoothness of the meta rocker at instep height, which favours a fluid, dynamic and homogeneous roll.
The drop is also maintained at 5 mm (29 mm at the heel and 24 mm at the forefoot), a characteristic which, thanks to the extraordinary ease of rolling, does not expose the Achilles tendon to excessive strain and instead helps to achieve the best posture, to unload weight evenly and to avoid annoying inflammation and soreness that often plagues our runs.
The fit is confirmed as being of medium width, suitable for both wide and slender feet.
Who is it for?
The Clifton 7 therefore continues to be a model that can satisfy any runner looking for cushioning and lightness, with an average weight between 65 kg and 85 kg.
Even longer cushioning
Finally, it is pleasing to note that, compared to the past, such a marked lightness of the model is no longer matched by an equally limited durability, but that instead it can easily cover 700-800 km, thus placing the seventh edition of the Clifton on a par with other competitor models that have been able to boast a greater autonomy in terms of kilometres in the past.
Run and try it out!
That said, we advise you to run and try them in our stores in Conegliano and Pordenone… or online!
