Why twist something when it works and pleases?
They must have thought so at Saucony when designing the new version of the Ride, now in its fourteenth year.
And, indeed, why blame them? How many times have we complained about an evolution that was perhaps not necessary or not fully understood?
The result is that the new Saucony Ride 14 follows in every respect the previous model, Ride 13.
SIMILARITIES WITH RIDE 13
Starting with the design of the sole and midsole, the former with a mix of IBR+ rubber (in the forefoot) and XT-900 carbon (in the landing zone, more resistant to wear) and the latter in PWRRUN to guarantee elasticity, softness and energy return.
The FORMFIT construction is also confirmed, in the name of a high sensation of comfort and immediate naturalness in the fit once we lace up the shoes and set off for our workout. Almost as if the shape of the shoe were customised to our foot.
Also unchanged are the drop, still 8mm, and theheight of the heel and forefoot (32mm and 24mm respectively).
DIFFERENCES WITH THE RIDE 13
Looking for differences to the previous model, we can see details that wink at the Saucony Originals collection.
A reminder that materialises in the name of the American brand placed on alabel in the upper part of the tongue and in a greater rise in the rear part above the heel, in the form of a crescent in soft fabric with the presence of the Saucony brand.
The design of the upper is also slightly different, slightly slimmer and more streamlined, but slightly lighter than the Ride 13: from 277 grams in the men’s version to 266 grams in the new model, while the women’s version varies from 244 grams to 238 grams.
TO CONCLUDE
All in all, with the new Saucony Ride 14 we are faced with a comfortable, versatile and all in all lightweight running shoe, capable of accompanying us both in training and in competition, without too many unnecessary frills. An ideal model for medium and long distances, with a certain feeling of freedom and brio, making it particularly attractive to both advanced runners and beginners.
A shoe that wins, in short, cannot be changed!
