A KINVARA…EXTRA LARGE: THE NEW KINVARA PRO!
Well yes, even the smallest one from Saucony has grown up.
Let’s be clear: the classic Kinvara 14 (which has also grown compared to the previous version) continues to exist without any type of vulnerability. When we talk about Kinvara Pro we are referring to the new born of the American company, a very distinct model, parallel to the classic line.
So what are the characteristics of the new model? It’s easy to say.
FEATURES
Saucony Kinvara Pro was born with a decidedly and deliberately “oversized” line.
FIRST OF ALL, THE MIDSOLE
With 42 mm of height on the heel and 34 on the forefoot it is undoubtedly the highest shoe of the brand. The materials used range from the soft and responsive PWRRUN PB, strategically positioned in the upper part, to the classic PWRRUN, resistant and reliable, which finds space in the lower part of the midsole. The insole composition, with the now consolidated PWRRUN+ foam which gives an immediate sensation of comfort under our feet, is a plus to add to this combination of compounds.
SECONDLY, THE CARBON PLATE
Not full length, but ¾. A more than acceptable choice, aimed at making the shoe reactive and fast, yes, but never excessively. With excellent stability, considering the height from the ground. And with the sensation of extraordinary cushioning especially on the heel. Ideal for completing races and training sessions when tiredness becomes annoying.
EVENTUALLY, THE DROP
The most attentive people will not have missed the value of the drop (i.e. the heel-toe differential).
8mm, a significant rise which, combined with the speedroll geometry and, indeed, the plate and height of the midsole, gives a support that is always comfortable, stable and protective.
IDEAL USE
Kinvara Pro is a model recommended for races (even prolonged ones), but also for everyday training aimed at greater liveliness and ease of running.
THE DIFFERENCES WITH KINVARA 14
Although united by the same name, Kinvara 14 and Kinvara Pro have marked differences.
Starting from the midsole, the classic Kinvara offers “only” 31mm on the heel and 27 on the forefoot. In quotes because, as we mentioned at the beginning, compared to the previous edition it has visibly grown up in the name of greater comfort in times of need.
Furthermore, the drop is the usual 4mm, compared to the 8 of the older sister Kinvara Pro. A solution that has remained unchanged since the birth of the model and which guarantees greater reactivity and control on the part of the runner. And which makes it ideal for fast training and short/medium distance races.
Eventually, the weight: Kinvara 14 only weighs 200 grams in the male model and 167 in the female one. Values very different from the 269 of the Pro (241 in the women’s version).
